Content Warnings for Crash Course
Limited Spoilers
If Crash Course were a movie, it would be rated R. It contains complex themes about religion and identity. It’s probably best suited for ages 18+, but that decision is up to you.
The show contains flashing lights, loud noises, moments of darkness (actual & metaphorical), swear words, coming-of-age stories about sex, and glancing mentions of cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs.
The framing device of the show is a popular Christian youth group activity from the 80s & 90s, where a plane crash is staged in order to give the "crash victims" a tour of the afterlife, so they can reflect on whether their current life path will lead to religious salvation. There will be a simulated plane crash, similar to what was experienced in the youth group activity, including sounds effects of mechanical explosions, plane distress, and crashing.
Crash Course is a story (or two stories, rather) about trying very very hard to fit in to a religious culture where there seems no place for who you are in the doctrine. It is ultimately a hopeful show, but if this subject is a bruise for you, proceed with caution.
The show is not meant to be a takedown of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but it might feel that way if you are a devout Mormon who believes the gospel is perfect. You should also proceed with caution.
